December, Xmas, Snow fun

| | Comments (0)

Well, when snow hits the Portland metro area, it seems that the city shuts down. Cara spent a total of 5 hours playing in the 22 degree (11 windchill) Winter Wonderland. Cara_Image.jpg

As for xmas lists, mine hasn't changed much. I would be happy with a night off, cooking classes, concert tickets, a weekend getaway, jewelery, new daily silverware (I hate ours) a dishwasher that is quieter, I think just a morning sleeping in would be key.

Madisons list is on Amazon.com. Found here She also would love a cooking class from In Good Taste.

Cara also has an Amazon.com wishlist. She would like american girl doll clothes and items (Doesn't have to be that brand). Found Here.

Headed home to See Margie from NZ

| | Comments (0)

Margaret, my exchange sister from New Zealand is visiting my hometown of Gilroy this weekend and I am very excited to go home to catch up with her. Her and her husband, we have found so far, have the same Make and Color Vespas as Tim and I. How funny is that! Anyhow, I am hoping to catch up with a few people each time I go home! I am bringing miss Cara with me for the trip.

Last Timbers game and Madisons second Soccer Match

| | Comments (0)

The last Timbers game was pretty fun. We were ahead until we got a red card part way through the game. Here is Madi with her friend at the game. They had a great time getting signatures and buying soda!Madi and Friend.jpg

Other news. Madison had her second game this weekend. I think the girls worked really hard, but lost. Oh well. Maybe next week.

Will need to get a better photo next week! As many of you know, both Madi and Cara are selling lots of things to raise money. Most things I just donate cash to the cause so please don't feel hurt if she hasn't contacted you.

I just was asked by an old school friend if I had these class photos of Marbury School in Aldgate, South Australia. I would love to connect with any of my old friends from that year abroad.

Tim got us tickets tonight to the Vampire weekend concert. He first heard them on Morning Becomes Eclectic. They are pretty good. Give it a listen. Press the play button.

Digging up the Potatoes

| | Comments (0)

LaborDay was spent in the garden digging up the potatoes we planted before the summer. I believe we ended up with 22 pounds of Potatoes. (Our biggest crop so far). I think that we are finally getting a lot of the clay we had four years ago when we moved in!

Trip Back Home

I finally got to see some of my friends while I was home. One of them was Guanjun. Guanjun worked at IBM in my area when Cara was born. I need to scan in the photo of him holding her for the first time. Now Cara is 9, and I think he was surprised how much she grew.

We also hit Great America and brought Katie with us. Man did they have fun getting wet on this ride!

Kauai

Our first time to Hawaii we chose to go visit my aunt in Kauai. We had a wonderful time in Poipu and are ready to go back, time permitting.

Our friends Scott and Charlotte joined us there. We got in a good hike in Waimea Canyon and Tim got surfing lessons. I was pretty bummed not to be able to surf with this silly broken ankle. Oh well, guess we will have to go back! Here is a photo of Tim, Scott, and Charlotte.

Broken Bones

| | Comments (0)

37 years without a broken bone is a pretty good record, but I guess my luck has run out. Yesterday while playing soccer I did a high jump and landed wrong somehow on my ankle. I cannot actually remember really what happened, all I remember is the pain. Anyhow, luckily Tim came to my game and was able to escort me to the ER. Here is my x ray:

This is the best shot I could get. The ER DR used the words fragment and floating. I am hoping this piece reattaches correctly. I guess I will be hobbling along for a while now. Hope to be running by the time we take off to Hawaii.

KCRW

Listening to KCRW morning becomes eclectic I ran across Bitter:Sweet a few years ago and notice today that I missed their interview. If you get a chance, listen. I like the mix of sounds.
